Legends, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Review by Paps (18/10/05)
Living out in the sticks is never a good thing; when you can't drive it's even worse! Our photographer and a very good friend of mine, Kim and I had to set off for Newcastle just after 12pm on Tuesday 18th October, with no clue as to what we were in for when we got there! 2 Bus journeys and one train ride later and we found ourselves at Newcastle train station at around 1:45pm and opted to go for a grotty cheap meal in a local fast food place which shall remain nameless! (But if you work there and you found the note please remember it IS rude to stare!!) We had no idea where the venue, Legends, even was so we decided just to walk until we came across it! Not a very good plan, especially since I had the most annoying trolley-case known to man to drag behind me, which insisted on travelling in any position BUT on its wheels, full of lovely Fozzy competition prizes might I add! (The things I go through for you guys!!) So eventually we gave up and asked in the info centre to discover we were approximately 3 minutes away! By this time Kim was starting to feel slightly nervous where as I, on the other hand, was fine. I was surprisingly calm all day which is unusual for me but I think speaking to Jericho over the phone the week before had helped!

I was excited and I couldn't wait to get the day started and find out what we had to do!
As we walked towards Legends there was a suspicious looking white van with a little trailer just pulling up outside and I recognised the face of a well-known rock guitarist staring from one of the windows... yes folks this was Fozzy's luxurious *coughs* tour bus..erm...van...thing! So, we wandered over and asked the first guy we saw about how do we get into the place and who was Toad the tour manager. Enter- the legendary Toad! (real name withheld!) What a guy! I must admit with a name like Toad I did expect some huge, bearded, old school biker type guy, what we got was something almost exactly the opposite of that! I'm telling you everything nice you heard about this guy is the truth - Toad is probably the nicest guy you could ever wish to meet - and believe me they are ALL nice guys so I'll probably say that about another 3 people at least before this review is over with! We were taken downstairs into Legends and watched as everyone brought the stuff in from the van and ran around here and there. We listened to various sound checks and...shamefully fell asleep!
